Montana’s main vineyard is at Marlborough Bay on the north of South Island. The first vines were planted as recently as 1973, since when it has become the fastest growing of New Zealand’s new wine areas. Its cooler climate possibly tends to favour white wines, which are deliciously fresh and fragrant.
